It’s true…time starts to move faster with each child you add to your family.

Okmaybe that’s just how I feel right now!

I can’t believe our little princess is now a little over 1.5 months! Unbelievable :)

Because most of our friends and family are so far away, I plan to do a monthly update on her first year here on the blog..starting today with month 1.

An An: Newborn- 1 Month

Timeline & Milestones:

February 4, 2012: Our little bit was born!

Her measurements at birth were: 8 lb. 3 oz.  20.1 in. tall

February 6, 2012: She met our dear friends…her China uncle and auntie for the first time. She loved them of course!

February 7, 2012: Saw one of the most beautiful smiles ever! At just 3 days old, our little girl put the sweetest grin on her face. It was definitely due to gas…but even those smiles can melt a mommy’s heart!

February 8, 2012: She attended church for the first time and heard her first sermon in Chinese from one of her favorite uncles.

February 10, 2012- 6 days old: We took An for her first visit to the pediatric department at Beijing United for her 1 week check up with Dr. Gonzales. Dr. Gonzales, who practiced medicine in the Philippines before moving to China, is one of the sweetest pediatricians we have seen in our short time as parents. He checked on our little baby every day that she was in the hospital and made sure her first visit was a good experience.

Her measurements at one week were: 8 lbs. 2 oz.,  21.6 inches tall ..head measurement: 13.8 in.

Not only did she gain her weight back, but no one could believe she grew over an inch in just one week :)

February 14, 2012 – 10 days old: She celebrated her first Valentines Day

February 15, 2012- 11 days old: She was issued her first passport and Certificate of Birth Overseas

February 18, 2012- 2 weeks old: Her little umbilical stump fell off and she was able to have her first bath. She loved every second of it! (sooo opposite of my first born :) )

March 1, 2012- 3.5 weeks old: We were able to finally bring her home…to our city…to her nursery! She took her very first flight, and once we were home, she was shown all the wonderful things we’d prepared for her

March 4, 2012- 4 weeks old: On her one month birthday, she went to our church here in the city, and met the people who had been waiting to see her for so long! She did fabulous during the service!

What we learned:

Our little girl loooooovvvvveeesss to cuddle. She is the cuddliest baby my husband and me have ever held. It was extremely hard for me to put her down just due to the fact she would curl up on my chest and sleep for hours!

Our girl is the drama queen!! She came out with a quivering lip and screaming at the top of her lungs, and I’m pretty sure she didn’t stop for the first hour she was out in the world. The lip literally made me cry because she did it so early! We always know when she is upset, because her face will LOOK upset and her lips will make the saddest face for at least 2 minutes before she actually cries.

Oh the drama!  lol

She is particular. If her tummy hurts just a little…she cries. If she’s not warm and snuggly in her clothes and wrapped up in a blanket she cries. If her swaddle isn’t tight enough…she cries, and if you take her out of a nice warm bath…YOU GUESSED IT…she cries lol! She cries at the top of her lungs when she wants something to eat. This girl knows what she wants and what she doesn’t want, and we love her for it ;).

She loves classical music! Daddy played her music over his phone to keep her calm after mommy’s surgery.

She’s a mommy’s girl. She loves to be in mommy’s arms (which is nice since my first born, if you don’t know her, is a total daddy’s girl :) )

She loves her big sister!! She looks for her as soon as she hears her voice, and always turns her head towards her if she’s near.

She is beautiful! I am of course biased but I really couldn’t take my eyes off of her for probably the entire month!

She loves to eat! She is a nursling so I didn’t measure to early on, but at just 2 weeks old when I was in surgery, she was eating almost 3.5 ounces every 2.5 hours. We never had to wake her at night, she always woke up by the 3 hour mark. Like I said…She loves her food and her chubby little rolls are proof.

She’s not fond of the pacifier. While I’m still trying to get her to take it here and there, she’s not too into it. She is not so easily soothed! haha

She is a light sleeper. It doesn’t take much to wake her up, and it is pretty hard to get her to sleep!

What we’ve learned so far….we love!

Just Born! Those cheeks are red from kisses!

All wrapped up after her first bath
