It’s  Friday and while my friends and family members in America are already taking part in the Black Friday madness, I am sitting here snuggled up, warm on the couch reflecting on the wonderful day we had together, yesterday!

I do believe it was my favorite Thanksgiving yet, as a family! And I don’t mean because of the food on the table of course…although, I’m pretty excited that there weren’t any significant food blunders as in years past ;)

It was my favorite Thanksgiving for so many reasons…

This year we have more to be thankful for than ever!

I, personally, am thankful for Jesus, my Savior. The one who loved me despite my sin, and gave His life so that I might live. I am thankful that He never gives up on me…and for the opportunities He gives me to serve Him even though I don’t deserve them.

I am thankful for another year…and another Thanksgiving in China.  This makes 5. What a blessing!

I am thankful for a husband who loves the Lord and puts Him first. I am thankful for how he chooses to look past all my failures and loves me like Jesus. He is an excellent father to our girls, and no matter what is going on around us…no matter what difficulty we might be going through…he can always put a smile on my face. That is truly a gift!

I am thankful for my precious children who have taught me so much over the years. I am thankful for how they stretch me and challenge me to love Jesus more. Their love, hugs, kisses, giggles, wiggles, and smiles… their “mama”s and “love you”s…all make my heart melt like butter, and I can’t help but just be thankful for every single moment that I get to be snuggled up close to them.

I am thankful for the sweet family God led to help in our church over a year ago. They are amazing friends and are a constant source of encouragement to our family!

I am thankful for our Chinese friends and for how they love and serve our church and family. I am thankful for how they have become a part of our family as our brothers and uncles…We are beyond blessed to know them, work with them, and to have had some small part in their journey to know our Saviour.

Yes, this wasn’t my favorite Thanksgiving because of the food on the table…but rather because of the family around it!

As for the food, I’m thankful for the Pioneer Woman. She is one of the reasons my family thinks I can cook ;)….but seriously, her blog has provided me with some of our favorite holiday recipes over the past five years. I promise I’ve never tried any recipe of hers that I didn’t like! Anyway, with her help, I was able to put together a Thanksgiving menu that our family enjoyed. Check out our menu below!

Thanksgiving menu 2015:

Apple Pecan Salad w/ Maple Dressing minus the feta= heavenly! The best fall salad I’ve tried! TRY IT!

Giblet Gravy

Mashed Potatoes

Cloverleaf Rolls

Green Bean Casserole

Maple Glazed Carrots

Sweet Potato Casserole

Mac-n-cheese minus dry mustard + your choice mustard= good!

And for cranberry sauce we subbed IKEA‘s lingonberry preserves

Pumpkin Tarts (using pumpkin pie filling)

Apple Pie

If you’re on the field and looking for some “comfort” foods to add to your holiday meals, these are some of our favorites!

Thanks for sharing our Thanksgiving week with us! I hope your day was full of love and blessings!
